The Kumitat Nazzjonali ta Rugby League f’Malta (KNRLM) have confirmed that Maltese Rugby League officials John Micallef Moreno and Nikki Vella are travelling to London to represent Malta at the Rugby League European Federation’s upcoming official observers meeting in London on Saturday March 17.

“This will be a historic occasion for Maltese Rugby League and the signal of continued rugby league development on the Maltese Islands” said KNRLM President, John Micallef Moreno.

The four hour flight being made from Malta to London by Micallef Moreno and Vella signals Malta’s first official representation at such official rugby league gathering.

The visit will be supported by Air Malta and the Maltese Rugby League Association (MRLA).

“Air Malta’s support in getting Maltese Rugby League literally off the ground this early on, must be commended” added Micallef Moreno.

Delegates attending the meeting will also be entertained by an English Super League fixture during their stay, between Bradford and Harlequins RL at the Twickenham Stoop. The latter team boasts Matt Gafa, a player of Maltese extraction that is the Quins’ regular centre.
