Sirs,

There is one glaring thing that seems to jump out at me, it is the Magic Weekend.

This seems to come in for lots of criticism from supporters of the game. Instead of inventing fixtures which just goes to skew the league table, the Magic Weekend should consist of matches from the last 16 of the Challenge Cup.

These matches would be meaningful and in my view glean support from all clubs, not only from Super League clubs.

There would be 8 games, 4 games each on Saturday and Sunday of the Magic Weekend.

In my view this is a more attractive option for everybody and would also bring a bit more attention to the Challenge Cup which has been lacking in recent years.

Editor’s comment: There is always plenty of debate surrounding Magic Weekend – one thing is clear to me, that it should no longer be a skewed, regular round of fixtures. Whether it’s Challenge Cup games or Nines, hopefully there will be a change, as well as the scrapping of loop fixtures, one year soon.
