I’ve been an ardent RL fan for 75 years and I’ve also given up with English RL.

I can’t believe what has been allowed to happen with the play the ball. No attempt is made to bring the ball back into play by touching it with the foot. I thought that was written into the laws of the game. A complete farce.

Also I accept that scrums are a means of restarting play with room for the backs to display their skills. However, please let’s have only forwards allowed in the scrum and make them bind.

I’m now following Australian RL and enjoying the outstanding skill level of their athletes.

Our game is a shadow of theirs; no wonder support is dwindling away.

So sad.

Editor’s comment: The game in Australia is far superior to ours, though that’s not to say that the players that are produced in the UK can’t hold their own in the NRL. It’s a shame the top two leagues in the world can’t work closer together for the benefit of the sport – first and foremost, by playing with the same rules would help!
