Magic Weekend sets rugby league apart

Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield sees Magic Weekend as one of the events that makes Rugby League stand out from the rest of the sporting world.

With a bumper crowd expected at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, where Leeds will take on Wigan on Saturday, Sinfield thanks that there is no better advert for the sport.

“It is a great experience for all players, not just the younger lads, to be involved in this carnival of Rugby League,” said Sinfield. “To get this chance at a professional level is a great concept and I hope that everyone gets behind it and make it a fantastic weekend once again.

“To get the opportunity to play in such a big stadium and to see all the colours and fans from all the different teams in the league really sets us apart as a sport.”

Sinfield says that his Rhinos side will not be resting on their laurels as his team, currently at the top of the Super League table, look to recreate the performance that saw the Warriors defeated at Headingley Carnegie two weeks ago.

“We are really looking forward to it,” said Sinfield. “It is going to be an extremely tough game and Wigan are a great side, I’m sure they will also have a few players back from injury this weekend too.

“It’s set up to be a cracker of  a game, they beat us last year and played  very well on the day so we are looking forward to getting stuck in to each other again and will hopefully make it a great weekend for everyone once again.”
