The Cumbrian joined the Robins this week, and he is hoping that his career can receive a fresh boost from his time in east Hull.
“I don’t see why I can’t stay on at Rovers for next season,” Lunt told the Hull Daily Mail.
“You never know what will happen during this loan spell. A fresh start is what I need and I’m looking forward to my new start at Rovers.
“I want to play with a smile on my face.
“I became a bit stale at Huddersfield and I’ve not enjoyed my rugby for a while.
“I’m in the final year of my contract and I have to think about my future for my family.
“I’ve played here a few times as an opposition player and it will be nice to have them cheering me on. This club is moving in the right direction.”
Lunt may not be superstitious, but he is hoping that several coincidences mean that he is in for a successful spell in East Yorkshire.
He is hoping to make his debut this weekend against Catalans Dragons at the KC Lightstream Stadium.
“When I went to Leeds on loan a couple of years ago, Catalans were the first team I played against for them. I scored that day and we won the game!” he told his new club’s official website.
“I think I’ll be wearing squad number 31 here at Rovers and that was the number I had at Leeds, so hopefully there are some good signs there.
“I’m not worrying about any of that though. I just want to get picked first and hopefully play well and get the fans on my side.
“Catalans are a tough team, they’re going well this year, they’re looking good, but I’ll be putting my name forward for Sunday and hopefully I can take part.”
