Former Huddersfield back-rower Luke O’Donnell has been stood down by new club Sydney Roosters for a “breach of the club’s standards”.

O’Donnell, 32, returned to the NRL earlier this season, after negotiating an early release from his deal at the John Smith’s Stadium.

He was stood down by the Roosters for a week following the breach, which includes being late to training.

Roosters boss Brian Canavan said: “The Sydney Roosters have strong policies in place and any form of breach is taken seriously.”

The former North Queensland Cowboy was restricted to 23 appearances in Super League during a two-year spell at the Giants.
