Luke Gale is set to return from his long injury lay-off when Castleford host Catalans on Saturday night.

Gale, 30, has been sidelined since the end of April with a knee injury.

He told Tigers TV: “I’m excited, it’s been a long time coming.

“It’s taken a bit longer than anticipated, so I’ll be glad to be back out there.

“I’m fully fit now and looking to make a difference.

“It’s tough, rugby league is one of them games where you pick up injuries, and it’s always tough to get one for that length of time, you’ve just got to deal with it.

“It’s probably the longest one I’ve had. You learn a bit more when you’re sat in the stands, we’ve had a few great victories.

“My week is geared towards 80 minutes of rugby league, that’s how you’re judged as a player, and I haven’t been able to do that, that’s why I’m super excited for Saturday.”

Gale, who was shortlisted for the Man of Steel award last season as Castleford finished as minor premiers and reached the Grand Final, made 10 appearances earlier in the year, the last being in the 24-4 win over Wakefield.
