Louis Sheriff takes chance Down Under

Hull KR full-back Louis Sheriff has earned a move to Australia with Queensland Cup side Redcliffe Dolphins.

Sheriff, 20, will join the Brisbane Broncos‘ feeder club with the aim of being spotted by an NRL club.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: “The move has been on the cards for a while. It’s the chance of a lifetime to go and play in Australia.

“If I don’t do this now, who knows when a chance like this will come my way again? Australia is the best place to learn the game. It’s a big challenge for me, but one I am looking forward to.

“The run of games I had at the end of the season was massively important for me. They helped me become more confident, especially playing against Wigan and Leeds.

“Craig (Sandercock) told me there were a couple of us vying for the full-back role next season, but I want to try my luck in Australia. Who knows? A scout for one of the NRL sides may notice me.”

Sheriff has made nine first team appearances for Hull KR, including the last six Super League games of this term, scoring tries against Widnes and Leeds.
