Sean Long has resigned from his role as assistant coach at Salford.

Long, 36, had been coaching the Reds alongside Alan Hunte, before the appointment of Brian Noble as head coach earlier this week.

He tweeted: “I am sorry to say, I have handed in my notice at Salford City Reds. I am taking my time to weigh up my options. No comments till I do so.”

According to newspaper reports, Long could be set to take up a coaching role at Wigan.

A Salford statement said: “The Reds would like to thank him for his service and everyone at the club wishes Sean well with his future career.”
