Long Not Considering Union Switch

Robinson felt that Long would be a great asset to rugby union, asking: "When you have a player of his skill, with great pace and a great kicking game then why not?"

Long – who turns 30 this month – said that he was flattered by Robinson’s comments but had no wish to move away from a sport he described as his passion.

"That is a massive compliment off Jason" he said. "I knew him when he was at Wigan and to get accolades off him is unbelievable really.

"But I love playing rugby league and it is my passion. Why change something that is not broken?"

Robinson’s comments come at a time when players Chev Walker and Karl Pryce are both moving to rugby union, and Brad Davies has taken up a coaching position with Bath.
