London to take two home games on the road again

London Broncos are once again planning to take two home fixtures “on the road” in 2013.

Last May, the Broncos took games to Brisbane Road, home of Leyton Orient FC, and Gillingham FC’s Priestfield Stadium.

The game against Hull FC at Gillingham, which the Broncos lost 14-12, attracted 3930 fans, more than 1000 higher than what the club averaged over the season at Twickenham Stoop.

Chief executive Gus Mackay said: “We have continued with the on the road games which were successful last year in delivering above average attendances and spreading the game to other parts of London and the South.

“On the road games form part of our strategy to take rugby league in search of new audiences and we hope that the 2013 games will be even more successful.”

In September, the club decided it was to stay at Twickenham Stoop, their home since 2006, for at least another year.
