London Skolars player Liam Prescott has been suspended for four matches for gouging an opponent.

Prescott, who was also fined £50, was found guilty of the offence in the 79th minute of Skolars’ defeat to Dewsbury on the opening weekend of the Northern Rail Cup.

His team-mate Matt Carter was also suspended for one match and fined £50 for running in and punching.

The Committee handed down a one-match suspension and £50 fine to Casey Mayberry of Blackpool Panthers after finding him guilty of punching in his side’s Northern Rail Cup tie against Keighley Cougars on January 31.

Neil Roden is free to play for Oldham at Hunslet Hawks on Sunday despite being found guilty of a reckless high tackle in a Northern Rail Cup tie at Leigh Centurions on January 31. The Committee took into account the player’s good disciplinary record in the last 12 years in deciding that an official letter warning Roden about his tackling technique was the appropriate action.
