London lose two to injury

London Broncos pair Joe Keyes and Jamie Thackeray are set for a spell on the sidelines with injury.

Keyes will be out of action for up to 12 weeks, following surgery to his right ankle last week.

Thackray sustained an injury to his left shoulder in the defeat to Bradford. Scans confirmed he had a tear in the rotator cuff but will not require surgery to fix the problem, with hopes he will return in four to six weeks.

London coach Andrew Henderson said that whilst losing two players at this point in the season is never easy, it will provide other players with an opportunity for game time.

“It’s never a good thing – losing players for a sustained amount of time due to injury – but it happens, and it follows on from our very busy Easter period, which is not easy on the players’ bodies,” he said.

“Thankfully, neither injury is too major, and it will give some of the other boys the chance to make the team. If I feel we need to look for replacements to boost our squad numbers, we will.

“Our thoughts turn to their recovery now, and Thacks and Joe are currently receiving the best support and rehab they can. We look forward to both of the boys returning when they’re ready.”
