London second-rower Matt Davis will be sidelined for the rest of the 2016 season with an ACL rupture.

Ben Pointer was injured playing on loan for London Skolars ten days ago in the match against Newcastle Thunder and is expected to be out for the next few weeks.

Broncos halfback William Barthau suffered an injury to his left ankle in training yesterday and is likely to be out of action for several weeks.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for both us and the boys to have lost them for any period of time, as both players have played a big part so far, but that’s part and parcel of the sport,” London head coach, Andrew Henderson said.

“Every team will face some adversity with injuries at some point during a season, and for us it’s now. But thankfully we have a couple of players on the return and a strong squad to help deal with this.

“I have always said to the boys everyone will play their part this year – some more than others – in achieving our goals. It will be a whole squad effort.

“All our injured players will receive the best support and rehabilitation they can from our medical and S&C teams, and we look forward to getting them back on the field when they’re ready.”

London playmaker Joe Keyes has returned to on-field running, following surgery to his right ankle to correct a syndesmosis injury picked up in training in late March.

Forward Jamie Thackray has been back to full training for the last week, after tearing his rotator cuff earlier in the season. Thackray will play for London Skolars on dual registration this Saturday.
