London Broncos hooker James Cunningham is expected to miss the first five games of the Championship season with a foot inury.

Cunningham tore a muscle in his foot in Saturday’s friendly win over the Yowies and will out for four to six weeks.

“I’m disappointed to lose him at this stage but that’s the nature of the game,” London coach Andrew Henderson told Love Rugby League.

“He is gutted as he has had a great pre-season and was eager to impress in these friendlies, but I told him it’s a long season and there is plenty of rugby to play, so he just needs to work with the medical team and hopefully he is back sooner rather than later.

“We still have Andy Ackers, and cover with Will Barthau who can play theer and Jack Bussey also.”

The 21-year old joined the Broncos from Hull FC in 2015. London starts the season away at Oldham on February 7.
