LMS believes Saints can catch Leeds

St Helens utility player Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook feels that Leeds are not uncatchable at the top of Super League this season.

Saints were hammered at home last week by the Rhinos, losing the game 16 – 41.

That result put Leeds six points clear at the top of the Super League table, but ‘LMS’ has not given up on the hunt for top spot.

“It’s rugby league, and you can play as well as you want, and obviously if you do, you’ll be able to catch them,” he said.

“They’re a tough team, and they’re going to take some beating.

“But I think it’s possible.”

Next up for Saints is a home clash with Widnes on Friday night. The Vikings are yet to record an away win this season, but McCarthy-Scarsbrook is wary of any team with Kevin Brown in it.

“He’s their little general, he gets them around the field,” he said.

“They’re a good team, they’ve got a very good forward pack. They’re coached really well.

“I’m just really pleased that it’s not on the old astroturf. It’s going to be a tough game.

“But we need to get back to winning ways and make Langtree Park a fortress again.

“We’ve lost two games at home, and that’s not good for us.”
