Former Widnes hooker Lloyd White has joined Queensland Cup side Mackay Cutters for the 2019 season.

White left the Vikings following their relegation from Super League at the end of the 2018 season after playing over 140 games for the club.

The 30-year-old is an experienced Wales international, having earned 15 caps for his country.

On linking up with the Cutters, White commented: “The time was right to start something new.

“My family and I are looking forward to the new challenge in a different country.

“Mackay seems like a great club and the people I’ve spoken to only have good words to say about it.

“They are really family orientated which is great for my young family and me. We can’t wait to get started.”

Mackay coach Steve Sheppard added: “It’s a real coup for the Cutters.

“We look forward to having Lloyd and his family here early in the new year and expect him to add value to our club both on and off the field.”
