Liam Watts banned along with four other Super League players

Hull FC prop Liam Watts has been handed three-match penalty notice for a Grade C headbutt on Dom Crosby while four other Super League players have been banned.

Following a review of round four’s Betfred Super League games, Watts has been handed a three-match penalty notice for headbutting Crosby during FC’s clash with the Wolves last Friday.

Watts’ previous record means he received a penalty notice at the higher end of the range. The prop has until 11am on Tuesday 6 March to challenge the penalty notice.

Warrington Wolves half-back Declan Patton has been referred to Tuesday’s independent operational rules tribunal for a Grade D high tackle on Hull FC’s Bureta Faraimo in the same game at the KCOM Stadium.

New Warrington recruit Sitaleki Akauola has been handed a one-match penalty notice for a Grade B dangerous contact in the same fixture.

Also, FC centre Carlos Tuimavave has received a Grade A penalty notice for dangerous contract but no further action will be taken.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants forward Daniel Smith has been given a one-match penalty notice for Grade B dangerous contact in their defeat to Wakefield Trinity on Sunday.

Wakefield ace Matty Ashurst has been hands a Grade A penalty notice for dangerous contact in the same game, but no further action will be taken in this case.

  1. Tom54, under the present rules (not the new ones) if you take relief (unplayable) within a bunker, the penalty is indeed one stroke and you must drop within the bunker. Check it out; the only way to get relief from the bunker itself is to go back and replay the shot (with a stroke penalty). The new rules allow you a drop outside the bunker, but at the cost of an additional penalty stroke.
