Featherstone vice-captain and world record holder Liam Finn has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the club until the end of 2014.

Finn, 28, broke the world record for consecutive goal kicks earlier this season, and has been a key part of the Rovers team which can make it three consecutive Championship league leaders’ shields with wins in their final two games of the season.

The Ireland international said: “I am over the moon the club have given me the opportunity to extend my contract, the club is on the up with a new professionalism about it that makes me hungry for more success, hopefully my personal achievements this year can be matched by the club by bringing the silverware home to these fantastic fans.”

Finn started his career at Halifax in 2002, before moving on to Wakefield and then a first stint at Featherstone.

He left the club in 2006, and was part of the Dewsbury team that won all 18 games of their title-winning Championship 1 season in 2009.

This prompted Featherstone to re-sign him, and he has helped them to Championship Grand Finals in both the previous two years.

Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “Liam Finn has been an integral part of Featherstone Rovers rise in standards over the last few years and it is a significant message that he has decided to add another year to his contract at the club. He is a model of consistency both with his general play and his kicking game in field and for goal as his World Record shows.”
