Castleford have confirmed that young winger Lewis Carr has joined York City Knights on a dual-registration deal.

Carr, 19, will gain valuable experience in the Betfred Championship with the Knights, who are currently second-bottom after losing their opening two league games.

Carr came through the Tigers Academy and made a try-scoring appearance in their pre-season defeat to Widnes back in January.

He also appeared for the Knights during pre-season against Halifax.

The highly-rated talent has earned representative honours with Yorkshire Academy, and Knights Head Coach James Ford worked with Carr in the England Academy squad back in 2018.

York Head Coach James Ford said: “Lewis has plenty of potential to take this opportunity and really kick on.

“He’s aware that there’s some wingers in front of him, he’s aware of where he needs to focus on in terms of his development and I’m looking forward to seeing the competition for places unfold.”

Carr added: “I’m looking forward to joining York on Dual Registration. I feel like Fordy is a great coach with a lot of experience and think he will get the best out of me.

“I’m looking forward to developing within a great environment, playing for a top side and a great set of lads.”
