Thomas Leuluai will leave Wigan and re-join the New  Zealand Warriors at the end of next season, it has been confirmed.

Leuluai, 26, has signed a three year deal with the Auckland-based side for whom he made his debut eight years ago.

Leuluai enjoyed two-year spell with the London Broncos, who later became known as Harlequins, before joining Wigan in 2007.

He proved a valuable asset to the cherry and whites, helping them to Challenge Cup and Super League titles.

But the versatile New Zealand international had always sought to play back in his home country.

“I will be very sad to leave Wigan at the end of next season but it always been my desire to return home to be with my family at some point and joining the New Zealand Warriors is a great opportunity for me,” said Leuluai.

“I love playing in the Super League and Wigan’s a great club to be a part of but, at some point, I was going to head home again.”

“I also had a real desire to go back to where it all started at the Vodafone Warriors. I’m looking forward to a new challenge and achieving new goals.”
