Leigh have signed Widnes second-rower Macgraff Leuluai on a one-month loan.

Leuluai, 22, was named in the Championship Team of the Year last season, earning himself a Super League contract for the Vikings.

The younger brother of Wigan scrum-half Thomas, Macgraff has made eight top flight appearances for Widnes this term.

Leigh Head Coach Paul Rowley said: “It takes us away from the position we were in.

“He’s not a straight replacement for Laithwaite but he covers that left second row that James was holding down. He adds a bit of value to us. I’ve a lot of time for him, MacGraff is a nice lad and a talented lad.

“It’s never easy when you are starting off on a new pathway and Super League career in troublesome circumstances but I know about MacGraff, he’ll come here, it will be a breath of fresh air for him and we are offering him an opportunity to get some confidence and continuity into his game.”

Leuluai previously made 38 appearances for the Centurions in 2009 and 2010, before moving to the Stobart Stadium ahead of the 2011 season.

Meanwhile, Leigh have allowed forward Steve Nash to return to parent club Castleford.
