Lepori signs Oldham deal

Oldham coach Scott Naylor has swooped for another former Salford youngster in the shape of utility back Richard Lepori.

Lepori, 21, becomes the 11th new face in the Roughyeds squad, and the fourth with recent City Reds connections, having signed a one-year deal.

Born in Chorley, to an English mother and Italian father, Lepori is a third-year student at Leeds Met University.

He said: “I was coached by ‘Spanner’ (Spencer) for three years and Scott for one and the opportunity to work with them again was a huge factor in my desire to join Oldham.

“I’ve been training at the club since the boys returned for pre-season work six weeks ago and not for a long time have I been as excited about a new season as I am at the thought of what lies ahead of us in the coming months.

“I’ve played a lot on the wing, but I’ve also done a fair bit at full-back and that’s the position I fancy pushing for.”

Lepori learned his trade in the academy set up at Salford, alongside fellow new Oldham recruits Adam Files, Callum Marriott and Lewis Palfrey.

He spent some time playing for Castleford reserves last season, while studying for a degree in sport, leisure and culture.
