Leigh winger banned

Leigh winger Dave Alstead will miss the Centurions Challenge Cup clash with Bradford after picking up a one-match ban.

Alstead was suspended and fined £50 at the RFL disciplinary committee hearing on Wednesday after being found guilty of making a careless high tackle on Sheffield’s Peter Green.

The former Warrington man was sent off for the incident during the game which Leigh won 36-20, despite being down to 12 men for more than half of the match.

He will be free to play in Leigh’s Championship clash with Widnes on Thursday.
