Leigh have announced the re-signing of Nick Gregson for the 2019 season.

The 23-year-old joined the Centurions ahead of last season from Wigan Warriors, making 14 appearances for the club.

A former England Academy international, Gregson is primarily a back-rower but can also fill in at loose forward or even half-back.

On re-signing Gregson, Leigh head coach John Duffy said: “Nick’s a real good footballer and he got a good taste of the Championship last year.

“Nick plays his best when he gets a run of back to back games as he showed towards the end of last season.

“He’s got a great opportunity to play regularly this coming season and enjoy his rugby.

“I coached him at Swinton when he came on dual registration from Wigan and Nick’s now at the stage where he needs to push on with his career.

“He’s been niggled with small injuries which have set him back and he needs a good, full season and then have a good look at where his career’s at.

“He’s a real nice bloke, quiet and determined and he trains hard. It’s great to have him on board.”

On re-joining Leigh, Gregson said: “I’m really looking forward to the season ahead with Leigh and playing under John. He’s a real good bloke and a very good coach.

“I never wanted to go anywhere else so as soon as I saw signings being announced after John’s appointment it was a really easy decision for me to make.

“I know a lot of the new lads and a few of them are from Wigan. Last year I was the only Wiganer but now there are a few of us, so I’m in my element!

“It was really frustrating at the start of last season when we lost those games and I wasn’t in the team so couldn’t have any effect on things. It was nice to play more games towards the end of the year and I’m really buzzing to be back playing for Leigh Centurions and the fantastic supporters.

“I’m really confident we can achieve things this year.”
