Leigh Miners 6-8 Skirlaugh

In Torrential rain and wind it was the Skirlaugh Bulls who handled the conditions the better to secure this year’s grand final with a hard fought victory over minor premiers Leigh Miners 8-6.

In a very evenly matched contest it was the better completion rate of the young Skirlaugh side that saw them just edged the contest with both defences on top in horrific playing conditions.

The Hull outfit, just out enthused the Leigh counterparts with handling errors a plenty from both teams the game was tight and was very tense right to the final whistle.

Skirlaugh led 6-0 at the break through a Brandon Lewis try and a Jordan Precious goal and early in the second half Precious added a penalty goal to take the Humbersiders to an 8-0 lead Lewis was also responsible for at least 3 try saving tackles in the second half and it took 55 minutes for Miners to open their account with an excellent Woods try goaled by himself but that was all the Leigh side could muster with the Hull side holding on for a superb victory.

Best for Miners were C.Wigfield, J.Woods and D.Bradbury.

Best for Skirlaugh were B.Lewis, J.Precious and S.Cochran.
