Leigh deny Rangi Chase exit

Updated: Leigh have denied that star halfback Rangi Chase has been sacked by the club.

The Centurions posted on Twitter at 7.38pm on Tuesday: “Leigh Centurions stress that Rangi Chase has NOT been sacked and is still a contracted player at the club. No further comment will be made.”

The Kiwi’s tenure at Leigh has hardly been a smooth one, with the playmaker barely on the field for the Championship club this season.

Chase joined Leigh from Salford at the end of 2015.

Chase’s time at the Red Devils also ended abruptly, with his contract terminated. He joined Salford after five years at Castleford.

The scrum-half posted last week on Instagram: “When you know your not playing good enough is frustrating. Just got to stick with it and keep training hard and it will come. Us as a team work hard for each other we just got to be smarter.”
