Leigh confirm Barlow signing

Leigh coach Paul Rowley revealed the signing of prop Sam Barlow, following their play-off defeat to Featherstone at the weekend.

The Centurions went down 40-26 to the Championship league leaders, and now take on Batley in a sudden-death play-off.

Barlow, 24, joined Featherstone on loan from Halifax in July, but will move on to Leigh Sports Village at the end of the season, despite having 12 months to run on his deal at The Shay.

Rowley said: “We won’t have to face one of Featherstone’s better players Sam Barlow next year. He will be red and white.

“Sam is contracted to us for next year so it’s a positive for us.”

Barlow, who has previously played for Huddersfield and Widnes, played his last Halifax game in a 31-24 defeat to Hunslet in June.

He has since made eight appearances for Featherstone, finishing on the winning side in all but one of those – his debut against Swinton.
