Leigh chief hails Oldham and Swinton

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont believes that Oldham and Swinton Lions have achieved great things in 2016.

The Leigh chief believes that both clubs will retain their Championship status, and he feels that, given their budgets, the two clubs have progressed well.

“Going pound for pound, what these two clubs have achieved this year is equal to what we’ve done at Leigh,” he said, speaking to BBC Radio Manchester.

“To stay up at the first attempt is massive and it hasn’t happened very often in the past.

“Chris (Hamilton) [Oldham owner] has been through hell and high water for years trying to get into the Championship and now he’s a fully-fledged member.”
