Leigh boss Adrian Lam says he feels for Simon Finnigan and John Kear after the pair became the latest coaching casualties in the Championship.

The Championship saw two of its coaches lose their jobs on Tuesday. Bradford announced they had parted ways with Kear in the afternoon, with Finnigan exiting Widnes in the evening.

Lam, whose promotion-chasing Leigh side beat Widnes and Bradford twice each this season, says he feels for his counterparts.

Adrian Lam: I feel for them

Speaking to Love Rugby League, Adrian Lam said: “I’m disappointed for those coaches because they are both good people and good coaches.

“I would also presume they won’t be the first ones to go from either Championship or Super League this year and it is part of the role.

“My advice would be to keep your head up, there’s something around the corner, especially when you are good people like they are.

“It is sad that the clubs are in a position where it is that way inclined. You get on with it don’t you, everything has been in a position in the past and no doubt it’ll happen again at some stage, you’ve just got to try and minimise those moments.

“They are both good people and I feel for them.”

Leigh have only lost one game in the Championship this season, which was against promotion rivals Featherstone in the opening round. They Centurions sit behind Featherstone in the table by a point.

Widnes and Bradford, meanwhile, sit eighth and ninth in the table respectively. The Vikings have lost their last six games whilst the Bulls have won just four from their first nine games of the season.

In other Leigh news, the Centurions have signed Fiji World Cup hopeful Ben Nakubuwai on a deal until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old powerhouse prop has won 10 caps for his native Fiji and made 40 appearances for Salford between 2018-19.
