Leigh and York dominate Championship All Star teams

League Leaders Leigh Centurions and York City Knights lead the way in this year’s Kingstone Press Championships All Stars selections, with eight and seven representatives in their respective competitions’ teams of the year

Leigh, who lost just one league game during the regular season, have Tom Armstrong, Liam Kay, Martin Ridyard, Ryan Brierley, Jacob Emmett, Bob Beswick, Matt Sarsfield and Sam Barlow in the Kingstone Press Championship All Star team

Five other clubs feature in the Championship All Stars: last season’s runners-up Batley Bulldogs have full-back Miles Greenwood in the squad whilst Dewsbury Rams have Shane Grady included; Featherstone Rovers have centre Will Sharp selected for the second successive year whilst Cumbrian clubs Whitehaven and Workington Town have Carl Forster and Brett Phillips, respectively

York City Knights, who secured the Championship One League Leaders’ Trophy with a game to spare, have Ben Reynolds, James Saltonstall, Ben Dent, Pat Smith, Jack Lee, Jack Aldous and Colton Roche in the Championship One All Star

Gateshead Thunder, who reached the Championship One play-offs after finishing bottom of the division in three out of the last four seasons, have two players included in the All Stars – Matty Beharrell and Jason Payne

Oldham, who finished the regular season in third place also have two players included – Jon Ford and Josh Crowley – whilst Hunslet Hawks and Hemel Stags have Danny Maun and Dom Maloney included respectively
