Leha commits to Toulouse

Toulouse Olympique have confirmed that New Zealand-born forward Kaluasa Leha has signed with the club for the 2017 season.

The forward, who can play at prop or second row, is of Tongan heritage, and was born in Auckland, before growing up in Sydney.

After spending time with the youth teams of Parramatta and Cronulla, Leha came to France in 2015 to play rugby union for Division 2 outfit Espoir d’Aurillac.

But he missed rugby league, and went on trial to Toulouse once the 2015/16 union season ended.

He immediately impressed the TO staff with his power, and went on to play 10 games for the club in their successful 2016 campaign.

Used mainly from the bench, he is yet to score a try for the club, but is expected to develop well in the Championship in 2017.
