Leeds have unveiled a shirt that they will wear this season as a celebration of club legend Rob Burrow.

The legends shirt will complement the Rhinos’ home and away shirts for the upcoming season and will raise funds and awareness for the MND Association.

Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019 and has been an ambassador for the MND Association ever since.

The shirt is available to buy now, with £10 from every full price sale going directly to the charity.

The shirt includes a number of features to celebrate Burrow’s career:

  • On the back – 196 stripes to represent 196 tries for Leeds
  • Across the front – 17 hoops to represent 17 seasons at Leeds
  • Around the collar – To show our support for the MND community it reads #MND
  • Across the chest – 38 stripes to represent Burrow’s age
  • Along the back – The distinctive Burrow and MND Association logo with £10 from the sale of every shirt going to the MND Association
  • Across the heart – Burrow’s iconic number 7 with the Leeds Rhinos badge at its centre

Rhinos director of rugby Kevin Sinfield said: “I think the shirt looks great and there are so many lovely touches that remind us all about Rob and the battle everyone in the MND community is going through every day.

“I know the players will wear the shirt with pride just as Rob did throughout his incredible career.

“The best part is the fantastic money and awareness this will raise for the MND Association and on behalf of everyone involved, I would like to say a big thank you to our partners at OXEN for their generosity and especially to all those who order their replica shirt.”
