Leeds’ squad tested by injuries

Leeds’ boss Brian McDermott has confirmed Rob Burrow and Brett Ferres will miss Thursday’s clash with St Helens.

Burrow has had an operation on his shoulder and could be out for six weeks, while Ferres will have a clear out on his knee next week and will be on the sidelines for a month.

Ashton Golding will also miss the game due to a hamstring problem.

McDermott said: Rob’s having a plate taken out of his shoulder, so we’ll lose him for around six weeks. He’s extremely disappointed and we lose a great player, but we’re going to have to deal with it.

“We’re also losing Brett who’s having an op on Tuesday to have a clean out on his knee, so we lose out on him for four weeks.

“It tests the squad but that’s what we have squads for. Our squad got tested numerous times last year and our fringe players came in, so let’s hope they’re further down the track and learnt some lessons.”
