Leeds have recalled Jimmy Keinhorst from his loan at Widnes, following injuries suffered by the Rhinos at Magic Weekend.

The 27-year-old’s loan deal was only extended last week, but Leeds had a recall option available.

England star and Rhinos captain Kallum Watkins suffered an injury in their Magic Weekend loss to Castleford and Leeds have recalled centre Keinhorst to cover for Watkins.

Vikings head coach, Denis Betts, said: “We would like to thank Jimmy for his time and efforts at Widnes Vikings and wish him the best for the season ahead.

“We are also grateful to Leeds Rhinos for facilitating this loan.”

Keinhorst, who is a Germany international, played three games for the Vikings.
