Leeds players returned to training in great shape, says Luke Gale

Leeds half-back Luke Gale says his side returned to training earlier this week in brilliant condition.

The Rhinos started back training as a full squad earlier this week ahead of Super League’s return on August 2, where they will come up against Huddersfield.

Gale told Rhinos TV: “It has been 14 or 15 weeks but it was good to get out the house and see all the boys again. It is obviously under different circumstances but it is good to be back and its good to have my job back.

“I thought we were outstanding. You think there would be a bit of looseness and a few balls down but we were outstanding. I thought they were awesome so I hope the rest of the week continues like that.

“It has been four months since our last game and it has been crazy the last few months but we are getting a bit of normality back as the weeks go on. We’ve got Huddersfield on August 2 and all our preparations go towards that now so we’ve been outstanding and hopefully we will continue like that until August 2.

“We did a testing day last week and we did a five minute run and I’d say 95% – if not more – passed their old scores which we did in pre-season. Everyone has done what they can to keep fit and they’ve all come in and been awesome. A lot of the younger boys have been outstanding and everyone has put on a bit of size.”
