Leeds lose again in Salford shocker

Salford have condemmed Leeds to their eighth Super League defeat of 2016 with a grinding 14-10 victory at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The Rhinos malaise continued as their attack struggled and their ball-handling was poor.

Salford defended stoutly and showed great enthusiam to come away with the deserved win.

Leeds dominated possession in the first half but it was the Red Devils who scored first, Logan Tomkins burrowing through for a try.

Michael Dobson added a penalty to give the home team an 8-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half Salford extended their lead when Robert Lui threw a huge dummy and strolled under the posts.

The Red Devils were in control and despite Leeds forcing six dropouts, Salford would not let their line be broken. Leeds were going through the motions but having no success.

Both Kallum Watkins and Brad Singleton were held up over the line. Keith Galloway finally gave the Rhinos some hope when he powered over in the 73rd minute.

Zak Hardaker converted to take the score to 14-6. Ashton Goulding then crossed with three minutes left but Hardaker couldn’t convert from the touchline.

It was a frantic finale but Salford held on to grind out the result in the final minutes.
