Rob Burrow will play alongside former Leeds team-mates Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock in Jamie Jones-Buchanan’s testimonial against Bradford on Sunday.

Burrow, 37, announced he had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease last month and more than £200,000 has already been raised in support of his family, with the testimonial too set to raise more funds.

He said on Twitter: “It will be an absolute honour to take the field one last time with the best of friends & to wear the blue & amber again. See you there.”

Buchanan, who hung up his boots at the end of last season, will celebrate a stellar career at Headingley, where he won eight Super League titles, two Challenge Cups and three World Club Challenges.

Earlier in the day, it had been revealed that director of rugby Sinfield will put on Leeds’ colours for a final time.

He said: “I swore I would never play a game of rugby again after I retired but how can I say no to two of my greatest friends. It will be special to walk from the field one last time together and for so many people to come out and support Rob and Jamie makes it even more special.”
