Leeds 20-30 Salford

Salford shocked champions Leeds to record their third victory in just over a week.

Young scrum half Richie Myler was the star of the show as the City Reds stunned the home fans with only their third Super League win of the season.

It follows wins over Hull in the Challenge Cup and the league defeat of Warrington on Friday which has kick started Salford’s season.

Much of the damage was done in the first half, with tries from Jon Wilshere, Mark Henry and Myler giving Salford a solid 16-6 advantage, Jamie Jones-Buchanan grabbing a try for Leeds.

Robbie Paul increased Leeds’ deficit, and although the Rhinos threatened a comeback with tries from Ryan Hall, Keith Senior and Jamie Peacock, Jordan Turner‘s 74th minute effort put the game beyond the home side’s reach.

Brian McClennan’s men fell to their second successive defeat following Friday’s surprise loss at Bradford, and now find themselves four points behind rivals St Helens in the table.
