Canberra have rewarded forward Tom Learoyd-Lahrs for a number of standout performances with a two-year contract.

The 23-year-old former Brisbane second rower, who scored try in the Raiders’ 38-14 triumph over South Sydney, will remain with the club until the end of 2011.

He said: “It’s exciting to be signing off on another couple of years and especially when I think the team is on the edge of finding our feet as a group and its great to be staying on board for two more years.”

“There’s been a couple of lean years for me with injury which has halted my progress, but having said that it made me realise you have to work pretty hard on those areas and I think as a player its helped me to knuckle down a bit more and concentrate on getting my body right.”

Raiders CEO Don Furner said the club was very happy to have Tom on the roster for two more seasons.

“Tom has been great here, I know he’s had some injuries but in the sport he plays and the position he plays that can happen,” Furner said.

“He fits our culture very well, he’s had his two children here and he considers Canberra his home. He’s a country boy and it’s great he’s with us for another two years.”
