League 1 round-up: York break Welsh record, Keighley edge Newcastle, hat-tricks galore

York’s aggregate score against West Wales this season is 274-0. 

Bradford Bulls kept their opponents scoreless for the second week running as they thrashed North Wales Crusaders 48-0 at the Queensway Stadium on Sunday. Dane Chisholm scored two tries and kicked eight goals for the Bulls, racking up a tally of 24 points. Bradford forward Ross Peltier was sent to the sin bin for a late tackle.

Joe Hambley scored two tries to help Workington Town ease past Coventry Bears 40-16 at Derwent Park on Sunday. Workington duo Gordon Maudling and Jamie Doran were both sin-binned in the game for high tackles.

Oldham pulled off a fantastic 20-0 victory against Whitehaven at the Vestacare Stadium on Sunday. Craig Briscoe, Dave Hewitt and Danny Langtree scored Oldham’s tries. Josh Eaves played for Haven on loan from St Helens.

Doncaster won their fifth game in a row as they dispatched London Skolars 38-6 at the Keepmoat Stadium. Hakim Miloudi, Jack Sanderson, Jack Logan and Jez Litten featured for the Dons on dual-registration from Hull FC. Miloudi, Logan (2), Jason Tali, Richard Owen, Connor Scott and Kyle Kesik scored for Doncaster.

York City Knights inflicted a record home defeat for any Welsh rugby league side in history as they demolished West Wales Raiders 130-0 at Stebonheath Park. Ash Robson scored four of York’s 22 tries. Perry Whiteley and Matt Chiltern grabbed hat-tricks, while Harry Carter and Joe Batchelor got two tries each.

Keighley Cougars ended a three-match losing streak by edging past Newcastle Thunder 24-16 at Cougar Park. Davey Dixon, Josh Lynam, Alfie Seeley and Ritchie Hawkyard scored Keighley’s tries. Newcastle forward Conor Fitzsimmons was sin-binned late on for fighting.

A hat-trick from Gavin Duffy helped Hunslet comfortably beat Hemel Stags 54-6 at South Leeds Stadium. Matthew Nicholson, Duane Straughier, Jack Walton (2), Liam Mackay, David Foggin-Johnston and Will Cooke scored the rest of Hunslet’s tries.
