League 1 round-up: Whitehaven and Newcastle draw, London Skolars run riot, Crusaders shock Doncaster

There were several close encounters in round eight of League 1. 

Whitehaven were held to a 12-12 draw by Newcastle Thunder at the Recreation Ground.

Dave Thompson and Jordan Burns went over for Haven, while Kieran Gill scored for Thunder.

Keighley Cougars managed take the spoils thanks to a 32-26 win over Workington Town at Cougar Park.

Benn Hardcastle, Taylor Prell, Dan Parker and James Feather (2) crossed for the Cougars.

London Skolars pulled off a superb 42-26 win against Hunslet at the South Leeds Stadium.

Richard Wilkinson, James Barran, Joe Brown (2), Neil Thorman, Iliess Macani and Lameck Juma all got on the scoresheet for the Skolars.

North Wales Crusaders managed to cause an upset against Doncaster as they left the Keepmoat Stadium with the two points thanks to a 12-10 win.

Earl Hurst and Kenny Baker scored for the Crusaders.

Oldham ran in 14 tries to thrash West Wales Raiders 72-8 at Stebonheath Park.

Liam Bent (2), Harry Maders (2), Danny Bridge, Zack McComb (2), Ritchie Hawkyard (2), Paul Crook, Titus Gwaze, Jack Holmes (2) and Danny Langtree scored for the Roughyeds.

Whitehaven are currently top of the League 1 table, while Hunslet, London Skolars, Oldham, Newcastle and Doncaster make up the top six.
