There were a number of big scorelines in League 1 on the weekend.

Elliott Miller scored a second half hat-trick to help Workington Town record a comfortable 34-12 win against Keighley Cougars at Derwent Park on Sunday. Tyllar Mellor, who recently joined Town on loan from Huddersfield Giants, scored on his debut. Sam Forrester, Sean Penkywicz and Jamie Doran scored Town’s other tries.

Newcastle Thunder eased past London Skolars 46-14 at Kingston Park. Theerapol Ritson and Lewis Young scored two tries each for the North East side, while France international Remy Marginet also crossed the whitewash.

Doncaster climbed up the table into the play-off places with a resounding 46-4 win over Coventry Bears at Butts Park Arena. Connor Bower bagged a brace for the Dons, while Mikey Russell scored Coventry’s only try.

York City Knights once again kept pressure on Bradford Bulls at the top of the League 1 table with a convincing 30-0 win over North Wales Crusaders at Bootham Crescent. Sam Scott scored two for the Knights and Connor Robinson, Judah Mazive and Brad Hey scored York’s other tries.

Paul Crook put in an outstanding display to steer Oldham to a 60-28 victory over Hemel Stags at Pennine Way. The 31-year-old passed the 2,000-career points milestone as he scored two tries and kicked 10 goals from as many attempts. Danny Langtree and Lee Kershaw also scored two tries each for the Roughyeds.

Bradford Bulls put in a splendid display to thrash Whitehaven in a 46-0 rout at the Provident Stadium. Ethan Ryan crossed for his second hat-trick in consecutive weeks, while recent recruit Jordan Lilley also went over for a try. Sam Hallas, Brandon Pickersgill and Elliot Minchella also scored for the Bulls.

Four tries from Josh Tonks helped Hunslet rack up a huge 86-6 scoreline against West Wales Raiders at Stebonheath Park on Saturday. The Raiders played the entire game without a substitute due to them having five players in Wales’ Under-19s squad who are competing in the European Championships in Serbia. Mufaro Mvududu also scored two for Hunslet.

Bradford are currently top of the League 1 table on points different, with York, Workington, Oldham and Doncaster currently occupying the play-off spots.
