League 1: Keighley score 86 over West Wales & Doncaster defeat Swinton

Keighley scored 86 points against West Wales Raiders in League 1 while keeping their opposition scoreless at Cougar Park.

The league leaders enjoyed an attendance of 1,924, extending their unbeaten record to 12 in the 2022 campaign. Rhys Lovegrove’s side ran in 54 points alone in the second half.

Keighley also celebrated their Cougar Pride event, their third annual Pride fixture.

Meanwhile, Swinton fell to only their third defeat of the season at home to Doncaster. The visitors left Heywood Road with a 26-12 victory, picking up their eighth win of the season. Aaron Ollett-Hobson crossed for a brace. He was joined on the scoresheet by team-mates Robbie Storey and Loui McConnell, while Watson Boas converted all four tries and added a penalty goal. Richard Lepori and Mitch Cox scoring for the Lions.

Elsewhere in League 1

Matt Calland’s Rochdale picked up a 42-34 victory at Midlands Hurricanes. The hosts had threatened a second half comeback, but the Hornets held on to claim their ninth league win of the season. On loan from Wigan, Ben O’Keefe crossed for a hat-trick. Lewis Sheridan scored two, while Rob Worrincy, Greg McNally and Zac Baker also bagged four-pointers.

North Wales Crusaders bounced back from their defeat to Doncaster with a 30-16 home victory over London Skolars. Anthony Murray’s side led by just four at the break with a 16-12 score, before tries from Rob Massam and Tom Johnson sealed victory in the second 40.

On Saturday, Cornwall RLFC put in an impressive performance at home to Hunslet but fell just short with a 36-24 scoreline with an attendance of 946. Macaulay Hallett scored a hat-trick. Harvey Hallas, Jack Render and Josh Jordan-Roberts also all scoring for Alan Kilshaw’s side.
