League 1 side Midlands Hurricanes have parted ways with head coach Richard Squires just days following their 42-14 home defeat to North Wales Crusaders.

The Hurricanes, rebranded from Coventry Bears at the end of 2021, have claimed just two wins in seven so far in the 2023 League 1 campaign.

They sit seventh on the table.

The side have claimed victories over London Skolars and Cornwall to date, falling to defeats to Workington Town, Rochdale Hornets, Dewsbury Rams, Hunslet and most recently North Wales.

Squires had coached Coventry Bears and committed his future with the Midlands Hurricanes following their rebrand ahead of the 2022 campaign.

He had first worked at the club as an assistant under Tom Tsang, before being formally named as head coach ahead of 2021.
