Leaders boosted by Saxton deal

Rovers are boosted by the news that Tommy Saxton has agreed a two-year extension to his current contract, keeping him at the Bigfellas Stadium until the end of the 2012 season at least.

Featherstone coach Daryl Powell said: “Tommy has been a massive part of the positives this year.

“His versatility gives us options and he has an edge to his game that makes him difficult to defend against.”

He added: “It wasn’t a great performance against Toulouse (last week), but for toughness of spirit we were top quality.”

Adam Hayes, Anthony England and Luke Stenchion could all return for Dewsbury as Warren Jowitt’s men look to overcome the disappointment of last week’s last minute defeat against Sheffield.

Jowitt said: “We put a lot into that game and the better side lost.”

There was some good news for Jowitt, however, after it was confirmed that Alex Bretherton, Austin Buchanan and Rob Spicer all came through the Sheffield game without any problems.
