Lawrence wanting a push towards top eight

Michael Lawrence has spoke of the importance of getting a win to keep their top eight hopes alive against Widnes Vikings this weekend.

The Giants sit four points behind the Vikings heading into Sunday’s game at the Select Security stadium, and Lawrence has already spoke of the importance of this game in terms of closing the gap.

Despite the Vikings recent run of form, the Giants’ second-rower has spoke of the problems Widnes can cause and is expecting a tough fixture.

“It is going to be a hard game, especially over at their place, they have got Kevin Brown, who is a very dangerous player and we are going to have to watch him,” Lawrence told the club’s official website.

“The more teams lose it makes them more dangerous because they are desperate for that win so we have got to go there and make sure it is not against us on Sunday.”

“For us it is an absolutely massive game in terms of the context of the season and league table. If we get a win then we will go up to ninth and we will be two points off that top eight so it is a big game for us and we will be focused going there and looking to do a good job.”
