Latrell Mitchell picks All Stars game over World Club Challenge

Sydney Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell has chosen to play in the All Stars clash, meaning he will miss the World Club Challenge.

The 21-year-old centre has been given permission by the Roosters to represent the Indigenous All Stars against New Zealand Maori, instead of playing in the World Club Challenge.

The All Stars clash takes place in Melbourne on February 15, with the World Club Challenge taking place at the DW Stadium against Wigan Warriors just two days later.

Mitchell was forced to choose between the two and has decided to represent his family and indigenous heritage.

The Australia and New South Wales representative has been given full backing by Roosters coach Trent Robinson and club officials on his decision to turn out for the Indigenous All Stars.

The World Club Challenge wouldn’t have been the first time that Mitchell has played against Wigan. He played for the Australian Schoolboys against the Warriors when they toured England back in 2014.

Australia beat Wigan that day, with Mitchell putting in a sterling display from the full-back position. He swapped shirts with now England star Oliver Gildart after the game, who is set to place in his second World Club Challenge at just 22 years of age.
