Langtree commits to Oldham

Oldham forward Danny Langtree has committed his future to the club, whether they earn promotion or not.

Langtree, 22, came through the ranks at St Helens and spent two seasons in the reserves at Oldham before getting his chance at the end of last season.

Roughyeds boss Scott Naylor said: “I’ve handed the chairman a list of players I regard as ‘absolute musts’  for 2014 and ‘Langers’ (Langtree) figured prominently, as did Phil Joy.

“Danny had a good apprenticeship at St Helens. He has quality and he conducts himself in a professional manner on and off the field.

“He’s solid, with good skills and he doesn’t shirk hard graft.

“He’s missed only one game all season, while he was carrying a knock, and that probably says everything about what we think of him.”

Prop Joy has also committed his future to the club, regardless of what division they are in next season.

They take on Rochdale at Whitebank on Sunday, with the winners going straight through to the Championship 1 Grand Final at Leigh on September 29.
