Kyle Wood signs for Giants

Huddersfield have signed Wakefield’s Kyle Wood, initially on loan, and have sent hooker Brad Dwyer back to Warrington.

Wood, 24, who can play at half-back or hooker will join on loan for the rest of the season and then sign a three year contract to stay with the Giants until 2016.

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said: “We are delighted to be able to bring forward the planned arrival of Kyle to the club and as such have released our previous loan player Brad Dwyer back to Warrington.

“Our long term plan was always to strengthen the options in the halves and hooking area, so with Kyle being out of contract at the end of this year it was natural that we would target him once the relevant deadlines had passed, and we have known for a while that he would be a Giant next year.

“His form has remained good and we believe that there are even more improvements to come as he matures and gains more experience which only time can bring.

“His early arrival is a real boost to us all ahead of the back end of the season and I’m sure he will be well received by the supporters.”

Wood trained with the Giants today and he has been handed the number 32 shirt.
